Announcements for the week of 8/29/16

We are off to a great start. Most students seem to have adapted well to the new expectations of 6th grade. If your child is still struggling, please let us know, so we may offer suggestions for helping him her along.

You should have received an email from Lindsey Bailey, one of our counselors, concerning the 1:1 laptop roll-out. Please read this email carefully. It contains a lot of very important information concerning this exciting new phase for 6th graders. More information will be released this week so be on the look our for that also.

There will be an informational meeting for parents of 6th graders on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Mrs. Smith and the  6th grade academic teachers will be there to provide information and answer general questions about 6th grade. More information will follow.

Monday is a holiday! Enjoy the Labor Day Holiday.

Announcements for 8/4/16

Thank you for coming to Open House. It was great to see everyone. We are looking forward to a great year.

Here are a couple of reminders or things you may have missed:

* Please sign-up to follow our blog so that you will get email notification of updates.

* Upper school begins at 8:10. It is best to arrive at school no later than 8:00 to allow time to visit locker, put away band instrument, go to the restroom, etc.

* Students should use the Upper School carpool line unless they have a sibling or carpool partner in the Lower School. Students will be released at 2:50 for the first month; they will be dismissed at 2:55 after the first month. In Upper School we do not have carpool numbers. Students sit together by grade level and are responsible for watching for their ride.

* You received a letter and a behavior plan printed on lavender paper. You can view or print these HERE and HERE.  After you have read the letter and the behavior plan, please sign the lavender signature sheet.

* You were given the syllabus for each class today in open house. Please read these and initial the lavender signature sheet.

* You can access the most complete and up-to-date version of the dress code HERE. Please make sure you read this carefully as dress code is enforced middle school. Pay close attention to the guidelines for hair on boys.

* Several people asked if teachers need any other supplies for the classroom. We all give out candy occasionally. We are happy to accept donations of candy such as Jolly Ranchers, Dum Dums, Starburst, and other candy. Mrs. Grimsley and Mrs. White also use colored paper during the year. Thanks in advance if you choose to donate.

Please email if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.
